Biography

The Shock Waves are a four piece electro-Russian fueled punk band. They bring a new influence to Indie music which they call Pankastroika. Taken from the Russian word perestroika, Pankastroika means rebuilding punk with a Russian influence.

On MySpace The Shock Waves describe themselves as a "four piece bent on self-destruction, debauchery, and the pursuit of nothingness fueled by six-strings, four-strings, animal skin, bloodied throats, and synthesized lunacy...lots and lots of lunacy."

Their music is fueled by cheap vodka, lunacy, and loud electric instruments, but if you met the guys on the street, you would find it hard to believe their self description. The band is a group of four very talented musicians who are out to have a good time, and want to share the joy and fun with everyone they meet.

The guys in the band include the following wonderful musicians. Dima is the lead guitarists and lead vocalist. He shouts at the top of his lungs until he pukes on stage and keeps on going. Nicolai pounds the bass. He is the guy on stage going crazy behind four strings. Yoseph is the newest guitarist, joining the band all the way from Siberia (not really). He brings in music, noise, and whatever else he can find. His music is said to, "Bring the house down." Topper is the animal behind the drums. He is bringing the onstage raucous together banging to his own beats and outrageous rhythms.

The band plays all original music written primarily by lead guitarist and vocalist Dima. Having been together three years, The Shock Waves are committed to their music. When asked what they had planned for the future, band spokesman Topper, said, they "want to stick together and get signed by a major record label."

If this band could be described in one word it would be "fast." They play fast driven music, drive fast cars, and like fast women. They practice every day of the week. Their life is in their music. According to Topper, they "live it, love it, want it, and would die for it."

Self described as complete lunatics, and maniacs who live to have a good time in and through their music, The Shock Wave wants the crowd to have a good time, too. They are committed to "making" the crowd have a good time. Fans should be able to plug into The Shock Wave and get fueled.

Playing off a Russian pancake tradition, the band considers themselves crude like vodka, pancakes, caviar, and pickles. Their music is rock hard. It is not for the faint of heart or spirit. Fans of The Shock Wave like to live hard and play hard. The support their favorite indie-Pankastroika group at local Atlanta venues like The 7, Swayzes, Insomnia, and the Loft.
